Last year at Hebden Bridge's Hand Made Parade we had to contend with a collapsed stage and terrible weather. This year there was sun, no stage to collapse - hey, and no sound system except for the m.c.
There wasn't time for a last-minute practice because the programme was running early. And then the drummers before us kindly filled in time with a little, no, a lot of extra drumming so we could have practised after all, and then we'd maybe have missed a little, erm, drumming (thank goodness drumming isn't repetitive).
Still, when we finally performed we did well. At least, the audience seemed to think so. Our repertoire of 'Jelele', 'Wangari' and a rousing version of ''Dominion' had them shouting for more. Yes, it did, really. But we bowed out while we were ahead and left the field to Sophia and her Circle Dance - which one or two sprightly sopranos were seen to join.
Thanks to Di for her enthusiastic leadership (thanks too to Tony Hughes and Izzy for the pictures).
