Most recently... We were part of a concert at the Square Chapel in Halifax on Weds Dec 2nd featuring Leon Rosselson (to celebrate his 50 years in song) and many others including Martin Carthy. Pictures and recordings here.
Before that it was a busy summer. We were involved in various events, including local festivals and the National Streetchoirs Festival in Whitby. We sang at Hebden Bridge Arts festival fringe over two weekends, having just marked Solstice weekend with a few songs at Hebden Bridge's Hand Made Parade. And on the Solstice itself we went to a picnic at Clarion House near Nelson to meet up with choir-members from Bolton and Burnley. It was our annual concert on May 14th. Here are some pictures. A few weeks later we had a terrific workshop with Jules Gibb. |
A group of us went on a Mayday picnic to Blackstone Edge with people from choirs in Bolton, Burnley, Halifax and Calder Valley Women Singers. A little earlier Here is a picture of us supporting the launch of Kerbside Green Ale in March 2009 - Kerbside were our local recycling business till local government machinations took away their contract. In the same month Corista, the independent octet of our members, sang Chartist songs at the Manchester launch of a book about Chartist poetry: pictures here. Our leader Helen and her colleague Kate ran a Shape Note workshop for us in February 2009 - it's one of the perks of membership, regular free workshops. Pictures here. For details of events in 2008, click here. And to go further back, have a look at the way we were.
