Inspired by the Australian Spooky Men's Chorale, Menfolk Waits formed in September 2009 to perform at the Raise Your Banners festival of political song. Since then we've appeared at many Harmony Open Mics in Hebden Bridge, at fund-raisers for White Ribbon and as support for the Bristol Georgian Choir.
This was us in action at a joint concert with Bradford Women Singers in January 2011 at the Little Theatre, Hebden Bridge:
Here's us in action in Bradford Cathedral in November 2009.
You could say our material is diverse ! We can count old English political folk songs, Georgian table songs and covers of punk classics amongst our repertoire. These pictures are from Harmony Open Mic nights at the Stubbings in Hebden Bridge:
Audiences seem to love what we do, at a recent gig members of the audience described us as 'stupendous' and 'deeply moving'.
We welcome other opportunities to perform !
We support White Ribbon.
