We are a small group of singers in the upper Calder valley in England. We love to sing. We met through Calder Valley Voices, a community choir based in Hebden Bridge, who sing 'songs from the world-wide community singing tradition, including songs of peace, freedom, struggle and liberation.'

We perform all sorts of material. Sometimes we specialise in Chartist songs - we sang at the inaugural Frow Memorial Lecture on Mayday 2010, and at various Chartist events, from Mike Sanders' book launch in Manchester in March 2009 to hymns from the newly-rediscovered Chartist hymn book in 2011.

We sing contemporary songs with a political edge and shapenote songs too.

Here are home recordings of some of our songs from July 2011 and November 2009.

We sang at Streetchoirs Whitby in July 2009 and at the launch of Brooklyn Studio in Hebden Bridge (October 2009), and at Streetchoirs 2010 and 2011: here's a picture of us at Whitby in July 2011 singing our own composition 'Credit swap derivative blues'.

We've also sung with a load of other small groups (most with their origins in membership of Calder Valley Voices) at many Harmony Open Mic nights at Stubbings Wharf, Hebden Bridge. Here's a link to their web site (with some neat pictures of us in full voice).
